**Mental health diagnosing can be a polarizing topic, with many finding mental health diagnoses overly pathologizing and limiting, and others finding relief in having a name for their experience. Others still, perhaps have little opinion at all. The Open Studio Cooperative recognizes and affirms the fact that systemic oppression within the mental health system, and Eurocentric ideas of psychopathology and therapy have caused harm to our communities. It is impossible to separate a diagnosis from its cultural context, and the individual to which it is being placed upon. While insurance companies require us to give you a diagnosis in order to pay for your care, we remain open to conversation about these diagnoses and find value in deconstructing this process with our clients.
